Young Lions Croatia offers creatives under 31 an opportunity to shine – and win a trip to Cannes!
The competition for young lions, backed by E.ON Croatia, takes place in person on 4-5 March 2022. The best among them will win an opportunity to compete at the online edition of the global Young Lions competition, as well as a ticket to the largest creativity festival in the world – Cannes Lions!
A new generation of creatives will soon be presented with a shot at winning the title of future communications industry stars – Young Lions Croatia is now open for entries! The competition, organised in partnership with E.ON Croatia, will take place in Zagreb, on 4-5 March 2022. The winning team will represent Croatia at the online edition of the Cannes Young Lions competition, as well as experience the incredible energy of the Cannes Lions festival. The deadline for entry submission is 25 February 2022, and the entry form is available here, alongside other relevant information.
Young Lions Croatia drops those that are ready to take on the lion’s share of work at the heart of a creative jungle and gives teams of two 24 hours to return carrying prey in the form of a creative solution for a client. Isolated from the outside world, they have complete freedom to unleash their creative energy and show everyone why they are the kings of the communications jungle. Creatives under 31 get to choose among five categories in which they are as strong as a lion: Design, Digital, Media, Print and PR.
The dynamic flow of the competition is already well-known: The competition is hosted by the Zagreb Innovation Centre (ZICER), and once everyone has gathered and briefs have been presented, young lions will find themselves at the heart of a communications jungle. They have to escape in 24 hours in teams of two, carrying prey in the form of a creative solution for a client. In their quest they will be aided by Shutterstock, a creative partner of the competition, which has offered its database to serve as a source of creative materials.

It is important to highlight Young Lions Croatia’s humanitarian nature – every year, the young lions are working on a brief provided by a non-profit charitable organisation or a civil society organisation. Once the competition has ended, the client gets to keep the creative solutions drafted by the competing teams.
Through participation in the Young Lions competition, young creatives get a chance to match wits with their peers. This is an opportunity for them to challenge themselves, to put themselves on the creative industry’s map. For agencies, this is an opportunity to showcase the results of their work with their young colleagues. Coming up with an idea during the Young Lions competition is not an easy task. You have 24 hours to come up with it and to present it. This is a creative hackathon of sorts. Personally, I am always looking forward to seeing the results of the competition because I feel that they outline the future of the industry, stated Nikola Žinić (Chief Creative Officer at Bruketa&Žinić&Grey) and a member of the DK Festival organising committee responsible for the Young Lions competition.
