The first round of BalCannes 2025 judging is underway, and the competition is fiercer than ever. A whopping 201 projects from five countries are in the ring, fighting for the title of the region’s best.



This year’s entry period closed on January 30, and let’s just say — regional creatives did not hold back. With over 200 submissions, BalCannes has officially shattered all past records. If that doesn’t prove how much the industry values this competition, nothing will.



The Market Mosaic category dominates the field, but Positive Change Mosaic is making waves too, with nearly 23% of projects tackling ethical and social impact themes. This year’s BalCannes entries are led by a strong showing from across the region, with 33% share of entries coming from Croatia, 28.4% from Serbia, 19.1% from Slovenia, 11.8% from North Macedonia, and 7.4% from Bosnia and Herzegovina.



But BalCannes isn’t just about pretty campaigns — it’s a hard-hitting industry snapshot, a pulse check on the best work coming out of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia. And only the strongest will make it to the finish line: the exclusive award ceremony at DK Festival, happening 15—18 May, 2025, in Rovinj.

The top work won’t just win awards — it’ll be immortalized in the BalCannes Report, dropping after the winners are revealed.

For the first time, self-nomination for the IdejaX jury was open to eligible creative directors from HURA member agencies that didn’t already have a representative in the jury, broadening the range of experience and perspectives involved in evaluating the work.

Effie Awards Croatia represents the highest standard of marketing effectiveness — a competition where strategy, creativity and measurable results are judged on equal ground. An Effie isn’t given. It’s earned. Only campaigns that can prove their impact through data, insight and real-world change make it through.



The 2026 season introduced expanded and newly defined categories, allowing for more precise evaluation across industries and business challenges. Five new product and service categories joined the competition: Automotive (including aftersales), Energy, Travel and Tourism, Culture and Arts, and Sport, Entertainment and Leisure.

BalCannes celebrates the best in marketing across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. This is where the regional industry sees you, recognizes you and celebrates your best work with gold, silver and bronze awards, applause, glitter, fame and future fortune.



The 2026 season arrived with a bigger stage: four tracks (I. Best on Market, II. Best in Channel, III. Best Branding &amp; Rebranding, IV. Best of Positive Change), first-ever format-based judging under Best in Channel and new market categories like Technology &amp; Electronics and Energetics &amp; Mobility. Best in Channel celebrated work according to where it lives and how it performs, from TV and online video to print, OOH/DOOH, audio, packaging, digital products, social and creative use of tech, while the legendary three juries (Agency, Advertiser, Media) once again brought three angles that know exactly what deserves to win.



Submitted creative work competed for gold, silver and bronze, with the very best taking home the BalCannes Grand Prix. The highest overall scores earned the titles of Agency of the Year and Advertiser of the Year, while Positive Change once again raised the bar with the Impact Prix, reserved for creativity that creates measurable change in the world.
