Digital technology is an integral part of many children’s daily lives, and the digital environment has the potential to offer children incredible opportunities.
Children use the internet, digital technologies and online games to learn, connect with others, and express themselves in ways previous generations could only imagine. But as the digital world expands, so do its risks, too. The question is: How can we ensure that these digital spaces remain safe, enriching, and positive for young generations? How can the telecom industry, online gaming sector and digital marketing pioneers step up to create environments where children can learn, grow, and play without compromising their safety?
This discussion is UNICEF’s call to action, focusing on the role of governments, businesses, civil society, educators, parents and caregivers in building a responsible online ecosystem for children, one of the most vulnerable groups scrolling the internet today. With UNICEF’s evidence-based briefs and guidelines for governments and the businesses, we’ll explore how to keep children safe in the digital space and provide them with opportunities to broaden horizons and ignite creativity the world over with Dubravka Štefanac (Corporate Communication Director, A1 Croatia, Member of IAB Croatia), Lidija Gamulin (Head of Partnerships, UNICEF Croatia), Helenca Pirnat Dragičević (Ombudsperson for Children of the Republic of Croatia), Roman Turk (CEO, DIVISION 4 VISION, Member of HURA & IAB Croatia) and Igor Vukasović (Corporate Communications Director, Hrvatski Telekom, Member of IAB Croatia).
